This is a weighted thermometer that is 250mm (10 inches) long, with a scale of 0-100ºC that is specifically designed to float in liquids, such as milk in a cheese vat.
Each thermometer is free of mercury and is especially useful in food preparation - in particular for cheese and yogurt production.
Since the thermometer floats in the milk, it does not require any handling by the user. It displays the temperature constantly and precisely and can be left in-situ during large parts of the manufacturing process. The red (magnified) temperature display is clearly visible from a wide angle.
The thermometer is accurate to within 1ºC and should form a vital part of the equipment of any kitchen where cheese, yogurt or other dairy products are made.
